As a loan officer, the best part of my job was the moment a stack of paperwork finally made sense to the person signing it.

I made it my job to walk people through every number, and I saw what it changed: better questions, less stress, fewer surprises at closing. I also saw how many people reach the biggest financial decisions of their lives without anyone ever having done that for them. Never because they weren’t capable, but because finance rarely gets explained in plain language, and the people explaining it are usually paid by the outcome.

So I started building that conversation into software, so anyone can have it, any time. Lighthouse came first: upload a mortgage document and get a clear, independent explanation, with no lender behind the curtain and no sales pitch at the end.

Beacon followed, because the mortgage is only the last chapter. The habits that decide whether you’re ready for one, like budgeting, credit and debt, start years earlier, and most of us were never taught them. Beacon teaches them in a few minutes a day, without making you feel bad for missing one.

I design, write and code both products myself. That keeps the company small, but it also keeps it honest: there’s nobody pushing growth tricks, and nobody paying me to steer you anywhere. If something I built helps you ask a better question before you sign, it’s done its job.
